Whether you are preparing to receive your First Holy Communion or helping your child prepare for this joyful milestone, we are honored to accompany you on this important step in the journey of faith. In the Eucharist, we receive the true Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, who nourishes us with His own life and draws us into deeper communion with Him and with His Church.
Our parish offers First Holy Communion preparation for children who have reached the appropriate age and have completed the necessary formation. Adults seeking to receive their First Holy Communion are prepared through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).
Wherever you are on your faith journey, we look forward to walking with you as you prepare to receive this sacrament with faith, reverence, and joy, encounter Christ in the Eucharist, and continue growing as His disciples. Please see below to learn more about the process for First Holy Communion.
From the earliest days of the Church, the Eucharist has been the heart of Christian life and the culmination of Christian initiation. In Holy Communion, the faithful receive the true Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, who nourishes them with His own life and unites them more deeply to Himself and to His Church. Parents who present their children to receive First Holy Communion, together with the children themselves, accept the responsibility of continuing to grow in faith through regular participation in the Mass, frequent reception of the sacraments, and a life of Christian discipleship.
First Holy Communion for children is ordinarily celebrated in the spring of the student's second-grade year following a two-year preparation process and the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Adults and young adults who have passed the traditional age for First Holy Communion and have already been baptized in the Catholic Church may prepare to receive the Eucharist through our adult formation process. Preparation is designed to deepen participants' understanding of the Catholic faith, strengthen their relationship with Christ, and prepare them to receive the Body and Blood of Christ with faith, reverence, and joy.
Adults who are also receiving the Sacraments of Baptism and/or Confirmation ordinarily receive their First Holy Communion during the parish's Easter Vigil as part of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). Those who have already been baptized and confirmed but have not yet received their First Holy Communion are prepared individually and receive the Eucharist at a time arranged with the parish.
