Join us in the Spiritual Center, starting at 7pm, to hear David Clayton give a talk titled, "The Way of Beauty: How Anyone Can Discover What God is Calling You to Do and Learn the Art of Living Joyfully." In this talk, David describes how a chance meeting in London, over 35 years ago, when he was 26, led to his following inspired spiritual guidance. This took him out of loneliness, despair and a lack of direction to a deeper faith in God, conversion to Catholicism and a total change in direction in his life. This new path, which he calls the Way of Beauty, led to his relocation to the United States, where he pursued a new career as an artist creating sacred art, and to discovering the art of living joyfully, which remains effective even in periods of personal difficulty. He will describe not only what happened to him, but also how you can follow that path too. David Clayton is an artist, teacher, and writer based in Princeton, NJ, who serves as Provost and Dean of the Faculty of Sacred Arts at Pontifex University and as Artist-in-Residence at the Scala Foundation. Scala Foundation is a non-profit, founded by his wife, Margarita Clayton, and is dedicated to cultural transformation through beauty in education and worship. It offers personal mentorship and guidance as well as organising conferences and talks. Rooted in the traditional formation of artists, Scala's Way of Beauty program fosters a graced imagination and nurtures creativity in all human activity through a deep formation in beauty. This is for everyone (not just those with artistic ability). The result is a joyful and graceful life of faith. Born and raised in England, Clayton has an MA in Materials Science from Oxford University. He has authored several books, including “The Vision for You”, "The Way of Beauty" and "The Little Oratory". He studied Byzantine iconography under Aidan Hart, the British master iconographer, and classical naturalism and portraiture in Florence, Italy. His art hangs in churches in the US and UK, with notable commissions for the Brompton Oratory in London, Pluscarden Monastery in Scotland and Thomas More College of Liberal Arts in New Hampshire, where he was Artist-in-Residence and Teaching Fellow for seven years. He has also illustrated books, including Scott Hahn's "God's Covenant With You."
